Hey guys I've been suspecting that my testosterone/libido levels have been low for some time now (given my age) and I decided to get my T-levels tested recently.

Turns out I have terrible results from the blood test. A healthy 22 year old should have a T-level between 800-1100 ng/dl.

II tested at 309 ng/dl... which is the equivalent to a 70-80 year old man. On one hand that's somewhat humorous that I have the vitality of 80 year old fucker and on the other hand this is seriously depressing news however I am glad to know the truth.

With that being said I am getting more blood work tomorrow to see if we can't verify these scores are accurate, pinpoint the problem and start course correcting.

My question to you guys is have you experienced low T-levels to any degree and fixed them?

Do you have any inclination to know what the hell might be causing this?

I know there is a ton of small micro fixes for low testosterone (eat salmon/healthy fats, lift heavy weights especially for your legs, get sufficient vitamin intake, don't drink out of plastic bottles with BPA lining, don't eat non-organic food, etc the list goes on) however I partake in most of these and I think even if I hit each of these perfectly it wouldn't result in an 500 ng/dl increase.

I feel like there is something bigger at play here that is causing such a low level of T such as organ, gland, and hormone issues.

The doctor tells me that this is common these days and that he can prescribe me Viagra... aside from being the most insulting shit I've been told in a long time I would much rather address the problem rather than mask the symptom.

Any thoughts, websites, books, or resources would be apprciated.

Thanks gentlemen

Rob, are you still on the raw food diet? Low calorie, low fat diets WILL nuke your body's test production. There's no getting around it and adding a bit of fish oil to a raw food diet will not solve the problem. Have you seen the people promoting raw food diets? The majority of them look like they have the vitality of an 80 year old.

My advice would be to consume a hell of a lot more calories while training like a beast in the gym, so the weight that you do put on will be muscle.

Rob,
Here's a link on the very site which may help you out.
https://www.girlschase.com/content/impro ... timization

I thought i had the same problem as you many years ago. I had got my blood levels tested through a test called Serum ELISA test.
There are two different types of testosterone in your body, fixed testosterone (i.e. the testosterone bound to your cells) and Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) the one which gives you male characteristics. You should look to boost your DHT levels.
I was 22 back then too i had a different unit of measurement for my levels though. Mine were 1475 pg/mL where the normal range in the results were mentioned as 250-990 pg/mL, i was freaked out but for some reason, the doctors at the hospital said that this was normal. I haven't taken a second opinion till now though.
I would suggest that you get yourself checked by an endocrinologist and always take second opinions on matters of health, although I dont know about the doctors in your country, but its always helpful to secure a second opinion in these matters.
Take Care. Hope you get back on track soon. :)

Thanks for responding problemsolving.

Yes I guess I'm on a raw food diet?

I eat lean cuts of animal meat, nuts and nut butter, rice/beans/sweet potato/fruit/veggies (carbs), and consume a fair amount of olive oil daily.

What would you add or discard that might make a noticeable difference?

@pks- Thanks for the link man I'll check it out!

No man, everything looks good. I was under the impression that you were on a super restrictive raw only diet. The main thing you need to look at is your overall calorie needs and if those needs are being met. The lower you dip below your maintenance calorie needs, the lower your test levels will drop. If you're not losing weight and not going hungry, then diet is most likely not the problem.

I'm on anabolicmen.com also, ha. Lift heavy, always heavy. Gotta be a caveman. They weren't sitting around in cubicles all day and drinking stuff out of chemicle-laden plastics back then, they were out moving boulders and hunting wooly mammoths and grabbing females by the hair and pulling them into caves and banging them and impregnating them. Think and eat like a caveman if you want to up your testosterone. I'm 38 and I'm in the best physical shape of my life. I tested at 325 for testosterone like 5 yr's ago and I said "nope, not gonna be me." And I changed things. You can do it bro, especially at your age.

Thanks for the encouragement Hells Atlantic!

To give an update I've further made it a point to remove non-organic produce from my diet, further eliminate chemical toxins, and lifting heavy in the gym.

This morning I woke up with the strongest erection I've had in 6 months to a year and was so horny I had to masturbate before going to sleep tonight.

I'm pretty damn excited!

My goal is to reach a testosterone score of 1,000 before the end of the year.

In the meantime I'm going to continue researching possible hormonal issues, toxins, detox ideas, and more to distill why my T-levels were so low in the first place.

I will be experimenting on myself to empirically test these ideas as well as seek out specialists to help confirm this research.

I will keep everyone posted if I have a big epiphany or breakthrough.

Thanks for your input on this highly important subject gentlemen!

Hey Rob, hope everything is going well,

A few things come to my mind:

- Eat more fat. Fat plays a very important role in the transport of hormones throughout your bloodstream. Saturated fat is okay.
- Consume cholesterol. Cholesterol is the starting point at which the body synthesizes testosterone.
- Work out (which you've already been doing). But don't overdo it; lifting heavy is a great idea, but limit it to 3-4 hard sessions a week. Excess fatigue lowers T.
- Adequate sleep.
