Hey fellas, I have the free time today, so, I've decided to introduce this to all. After Sigmund Freud's era in psychology, and after almost single handedly developing psychoanalytic thought, and psychoanalytic theories, a student of his Carl Jung took the ropes.

The Three People Responsible for the 16 Personalities

Jung , the first of the three, played an important part in the development of analytic psychology, and is well known for this work with human personality, introducing concepts such as introversion and extroversion, the collective unconscious, and archetypes.

Katharine Mary Briggs, the second of the three, drew in ideas from Jung (namely introversion and extroversion), and expanded her 30 years of personality research along with her daughter, Isabell Briggs Myers to develop the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, which I will continue to refer to as the MBTI.

The Test Itself: This is the meat of the thread! This is where the fun begins!
Myers and Briggs divided personality like so;

Extroversion vs. Introversion - Refers to how people utilize their time whether it's with others, or by themselves.
Sensing vs. Intuition - Refers to how you take in information - through your sense or through patterns.
Judging vs. Perceiving - Refers to how you live and interact with the surrounding world - structured or flexible
Thinking vs. Feeling - Refers to how you make a decision - objectively or personally

In the following, 4 letter anagrams will be representative, so here's a key:
I-Introverted
E- Extroverted
S- Sensing
N - Intuitive
T- Thinking
F- Feeling
J- Judgmental
P- Perceptive

NOW! these 8 different combinations, allow for 16 different combinations of personality, this will be the length of this topic. For the record! I will be listing the types, and will leave a link to your personality type afterwards. There are the:
ISTJ (the inspector) - http://www.truity.com/istj

ISFP is best matched with ESFJ or ENFJ
INFP is best matched with ENFJ or ESFJ as well.
INTP is best matched with ENTJ or ESTJ.

ESTP is best matched with ISTJ or ISFJ
ESFP is best matched with ISTJ or ISFJ as well.
ENFP is best matched with INTJ or INFJ
ENTP is best matched with INFJ or INTJ as well.
ESTJ is best matched with ISTP or INTP.
ESFJ is best matched with ISFP or INFP
ENFJ is best matched with INFP or INFP as well.
ENTJ is best matched with INTP or ISTP.

Believe it or not, I had to conduct a survey in AP Psych during high school as a final extra credit project, and this is what I chose to do. I asked people if they had the time to take the Briggs- Myers test and asked them about the best partner they had in their lives. Most were married and their opposite took the same test, others gave a rough description of their best partner ( I took the steps to equalize because I obviously couldn't track them down for significant results) and I went on from there. The majority of the time, the best partner matched the list I provided.

This is by no means a strict list to follow, and should not cause you to rule out potential girlfriends or flings. This list simply offers you the chance to experiment with women as far as personality goes. If you find what you're own personality is, you could potentially qualify your women's personalities (after an approach, and number close) to determine whether or not they are compatible. I personally use a few questions to qualify personality ( I used to not but found out that women I went forward with who didn't qualify the personality never got far).

Happy hunting,
Richard

Hey,

I've had a look at this myers-Briggs thing before and I seem to switch a bit between intp-entp (strange that it's only really 1 part that changes) which according to the list means I'm either an architect or visionary, maybe parts of both. Im
not really a big fan of the test for the main reason being that the way you perceive yourself is not always the way people perceive you. If people saw me in a club they'd probably say I was very extroverted as clubbing is essential my 'home' the place I'm in my element. Whereas at work people would probably I was definitely introverted as I don't really give much away except to the people I care to give myself away to. Indeed people confuse my focus and hardworking nature at work for being grumpy and unpersonable most of the time, the people who know me (I would hope) see me as warm, friendly and a bit on the mischievous side :)

I also feel that it's a bit of a sliding scale really, yeah you could say there's 16 personality types you could also say there's 2 types alive or dead, depending on the criteria you give.

Pigeon holing people isn't general very contructive in the long run IMO. People do silly things for all sorts of reasons and sometimes no reason at all, the just how people are.

Flames, I would tend to agree with you. I wasn't writing this from a personal angle, more of a factual one, and what inspired me to write this was Zac's break up of women into 5 manageable categories, this just goes a few steps beyond.

Regarding your test, switching between extro and introversion means you have almost a 50% preference of one over the other, and the two interchange depending on where you're at. For me, I have a 33% preference of introversion opposed to extroversion.

Also, a huge point you bring up! That people don't perceive you the way you perceive you! Love it because this absolutely true. However, I've found that this test does give an accurate measure of your own personality, and will assess the most common strengths and weaknesses of that personality, often times it will touch on social climates in either a good or bad light.

But like I said, this is by no means a reason to change yourself, or only look for a specific type of woman. I merely wrote this for others to do with it as they please ;) In my life however, its done me a lot of good.

Best regards,
Richard

Actually for what's its worth I'm most defiantly INTP or ENTP

Which means Intuitive, thinking, perceptive. Which if you've read my posts I would guess people would say that's exactly what I am. The pattern recoginiton (intuitive) part of my brain works so well I've started to just stop thinking and let it take over completely in certain circumstances, when I comes to casual convo, flirting, fucking and fighting I have complete trust in myself.

Its an interesting topic anyway I'd be interested in seeing what other people who took the test got ;)

And for me, definitely an INTJ. In my comfort zone, I'm definitely self-confident, and even outside of it, I can still be quite confident. Also quest for knowledge, I'm always looking to learn new things, and have a boundless capacity for self-improvement. In my areas of expertise, I can tell you whether or not I can help you immediately, and give sound advice in my areas of expertise (psychology, therapy, etc). However, I agree that one of my biggest flaws comes with love, because I'm willing to dedicate a lot of myself to the relationship, and am capable of being a great lover (and am ;)) the usual confidence and knowledge I have in my areas of expertise are generally gone, while those who I form a relationship with, whether it be friendship, or love find that I am generally a loyal, committed, and true friend or lover (some of my biggest assets to women remain hidden until they decide to deep dive myself). So, I know what I have to work on ;)

I generally don't follow these things too much as they tend to be very broad and generic. For example, every "best match" shows an extrovert being with an introvert, and I typically think that that combination rarely pans out well. The relationships I see work best are usually the ones where the personalities are extremely similar. "Opposites attract" was a phrase that never really rang well with me based on the results I've seen from the people that were actually having long-lasting relationships.

But with all that being said, I am probably closest to a combination of ESTP and ENTP!

Yes, the quote on quote best matches aren't a personal opinion, but rather collective data from Jung's time (about 100 years ago) as well as other personality psychologist's compiled data. That being said, since I first posted this I had been toying around with ideas in my head, and I believe that those who have learned from GirlsChase won't generally follow suit with this but in my opinion the general population will. For the most part, those of us on the forums, I wouldn't call "general" nor "average." However, I hadn't thought of things like this until after the post, but as always, things are always in evolution, things are always getting better and better, and personality is no different.

Regards,
Richard

Wow, so you fellas are all T? Am I the only F?

I once did the test with a group of perhaps 20 people (all new recruits into a major consulting firm) and I was the farthest toward F along the T/F axis, by a long shot.

Marty,

Wow, so you fellas are all T? Am I the only F?

To be honest, I think most guys here probably start out more as an "F" than they do a "T." But as Chase mentions perceptively in an article somewhere (of which the life of me I can't remember which one), becoming better in the seductive arts actually leads to a decline in "emotion" and "feeling" on the man's side. At first, this may sound rather harsh and unwelcoming. But once you begin to understand women better, two things happen:

  • 1) You realize that women are most attracted to men who have rock-solid emotions; they want men who are emotionally stable. Women are the ones who are supposed to follow their feelings and have trouble controlling their emotions; the men are supposed to be the ones who consolidate those feelings and emotions for them so that they can feel secure and safe next to a strong man.

    2) You understand where women are coming from; so in this case, nothing tends to surprise you anymore. If you think about it, the strongest emotions you've probably felt were when you felt out of control in a situation that you wish you were able to have more control over. And often, these emotions are the strongest when you're dealing with women that you have strong feelings for. But after internalizing what women want, both from reading the material Chase gives you here and going out in the field and experiencing it, you tend to not feel that "out of control" feeling anymore. You see a what a woman is doing, you process it, and you realize what you need to do to get the results that you want (which is the "T" for thinking). And as a byproduct, women become even more attracted your steadfastness in the process. It has a domino effect.

Now, that's not to say that you shouldn't use feeling in your interactions -- you don't want to be a robot. But when you become better with women, you tend to think about your actions before you follow your feelings so that you can be sure that your feelings are in check and presented in the way that you want them to be to get the results that you desire.

Anyway, this might be a rather in-depth response to a question that wasn't asked, but I felt like sharing anyway. =)

Hey Franco, enormously helpful response and I never expected you to come back to me on that.

Yeah, I'm starting to realize that's true. You can still utilize the empathy, if you have it, you just have to be careful what you show and how you show it (generally, less is more).

There's a bad boy inside me somewhere, but I was brought up nice and polite and am having to work actively to strip off that "tame" veneer :)

I'm an F too!

Very interesting thanks Zphix.

Certainly in my case the results were very accurate, with the exception of a couple of small details.
